Just one month into the new year, we’re already seeing some of this year’s top floral design trends popping up in our events and weddings for 2018. We’re loving daring color palettes and hints of opulence and sheen as accents in design. We rounded up a few of our favorite trends below.
Hanging Florals
There’s nothing more whimsical or dripping in fairy-tail wedding vibes than cascading, hanging florals. The beauty of this trend is that design can be interpreted in so many ways, from a dainty display of sporadically hung florals, to a lush presentation of upside down larkspur like at this Philadelphia Museum of Art wedding.
Bright and Bold Color Palettes
While we love classic and romantic hues like blush, lavender and mint, we’re thrilled to see the return of bold and bright color palettes. We especially love when those palettes are daring and unexpected like this combination of emerald green and sunset orange from this Gulph Mills wedding.
And of course, the trend always works with deep jewel tones like at this contemporary and dramatic wedding at the Logan Hotel.
Metallic Color Accents
Metallic accents add elegance and opulence and we particularly love the trend when paired with other elements like glass, rustic woods and even multiple metals. The Logan Hotel wedding combined modern geometric vessels with copper and gold accents for a touch of drama, and paired with Plexiglass boxes and glass vases. The end result was organically contemporary.
Greenery
Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year was Greenery, but we’re still seeing brides opt for lush greenery instead of dramatic bouquets of flowers in 2018. Verdant arrangements of eucalyptus, delicate ferns or ruscus feel bright and optimistic, and are a symbolic choice for many brides and grooms, filling a room with the liveliness of a new beginning. The Gulph Mills wedding did an excellent job of incorporating dark greenery with florals, and even made a statement with a dramatic, hanging wreath of greenery that felt organic and simple, but oh so beautiful.
